Terms of Service
The framework that governs your use of Mapleonim. These are the terms you accept when you register, download, or connect to the server.
Acceptance of Terms
Registering, downloading, or connecting to Mapleonim - on any platform - constitutes explicit acceptance of these Terms and the related documents: the Game Rules, Code of Conduct, and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- Information provided at sign-up (email, date of birth) must be accurate. False information is grounds for suspension.
- You consent to IP, MAC and Hardware ID logging as described in our Privacy Policy.
- If you are under 18, your use of the service requires consent from your legal guardian.
Account & Ownership
You receive a license to use an account. You do not own the account, characters, items, mesos, or any virtual property. These remain the property of the Mapleonim project and can be revoked at any time pursuant to the rules.
- One active account per person per platform (game / forum / Discord), unless explicitly authorized by staff in writing.
- Password sharing is prohibited. You are responsible for every action taken on your account - even if performed by someone else.
- Personal security - secure your email, use a unique password, don't fall for phishing. We do not restore accounts hacked because of weak passwords or password reuse.
- Account sale or transfer is forbidden - accounts have no monetary value and cannot be assigned to a third party.
Acceptable Use
Full conduct rules are detailed in the related documents:
- Game Rules - Tiered bans: Tier 1 (permanent), Tier 2 (14 days), Tier 3 (3-90 days).
- Code of Conduct - Forum, Discord, and chat conduct with a points-based system.
PROHIBITED Real-World Trading (RWT)
RWT - buying, selling, or trading in-game currency, items, accounts, or in-game services for real money or real-world assets - is strictly prohibited. This includes peer "donations" in exchange for in-game benefits.
- Buyers and sellers alike - permanent ban. First-time offense, no exceptions.
- High-value transfers (5B+ mesos) require source verification. See the Game Rules.
- The only exception: direct donation to the server through official channels only (see "Donations & Shop").
Donations & Shop
Donations are entirely optional and cover operational costs (hosting, storage, registrations). The Cash Shop is cosmetic-only; no item in the shop affects character power or progression speed.
- Donations are non-refundable, except in the event of a billing error on our part or a binding legal requirement.
- No pay-to-win. If a shop item looks game-affecting, open a ticket - we will remove it or rework it to be cosmetic-only.
- NX is non-transferable between accounts and cannot be exchanged for mesos.
- Donations do not buy immunity. Donors are subject to the same rules as every other player.
Service Availability
We do our best to keep the server available 24/7, but we make no guarantee. The server may undergo scheduled maintenance, emergency intervention, or temporary downtime due to operational issues. We reserve the following rights:
- Perform scheduled maintenance at any time, with or without prior notice.
- Update, add, remove, or change features, items, and rates - according to the will of the staff and community.
- Restrict access to specific accounts pursuant to the rules.
- Shut the server down entirely if needed. In such case, public notice will be given at least 30 days in advance when feasible.
Intellectual Property
MapleStory is the intellectual property of Wizet/Nexon. Mapleonim is a non-commercial fan project with no formal affiliation or licensing arrangement with the publishers. We claim no ownership of Wizet/Nexon's art, music, original code, or other rights.
Original content created by the team (Mapleonim logo, custom systems, original artwork, this website) is owned by the project. Do not copy or redistribute without permission.
Termination
We may suspend or delete an account at any time - immediately and without refund of donations - if:
- You violated these Terms, the Rules, or the Code of Conduct.
- You provided false or misleading registration details.
- Activity occurred that endangered other players, the server's stability, or the lawful operation of the server.
- You may also close your own account at any time - see the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer
The service is provided "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE." We make no warranty that the service will be bug-free, fully stable, or fit for any particular purpose. We do not guarantee perpetual preservation of characters, items, or progression - backups are maintained, but a catastrophic failure may result in loss.
Limitation of Liability
The team, developers, and any party connected to Mapleonim are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the server - including lost time, lost items, damaged player relationships, or any other harm. We are a volunteer project, not a commercial service provider.
Appeals
Every enforcement action (ban, item revocation, group removal) may be appealed once. The appeal is submitted via Discord or the forum, with context and evidence. The appeal decision is final.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced through staff channels (site, Discord) at least 7 days before they take effect, unless the change is required to address a safety issue. Continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
