Quest Start

Hello there, friend. Thank you for your previous assistance. What might I do to assist you? You wish to know more about this household I presume.

1) #bTell me about Sophilia. What happened to her?
2) #bWhere is Jonas now?
3) #bYou don't seem to like Ludmilla much...
4) #bThese fireplaces throughout the house... Are they all interconnected?
Keen eye. Every room in this house, even Jonas' Workshop, has a fireplace and is connected to the Main Chimney. So yes, I suppose they are all interconnected. Or were interconnected, I should say. Because of what befell mistress Sophilia, we've installed safety grates over each of the fireplaces since. <sob> If only we had done so sooner. No matter... they are locked now and shall remain locked, and I keep the key.

1) #bCan I have the key?
2) Yes... you should have been more careful. You should throw away the key just to be safe!
You want the key to enter the fireplaces? I don't know... the Chimney can be a dangerous place. Hmmm... it looks like you can handle yourself. Perhaps it is too late that we keep it locked.

When Sophilia was alive, she couldn't get enough of Gummy Slimes, her favorite candy. It's been a long time since we've had them in the pantry. I... I used to keep some in stock just for her. If she's still 'here', I would feel better if we still had some around. Bring me 80 Gummy Slimes, 20 of each color (Red, Green, Orange, and Purple), and I'll give you my Omni Key, which will allow you to unlock the fireplaces and access the Chimney.
Ok. That's better for all of us.
She was the daughter any father would be proud of. Smart, pretty, lovable...whenever she walked in the room, it was like a ray of sunshine. She was spirited, adventuresome, mischievous. The entire household loved her, it was a joy to see her playing about the house, always embarking on some adventure of her own design. Her smile alone could brighten anyone's day!
Sophilia loved playing with everything-jewelry, dolls, rocking horses, she'd get her hands of everything she could, that little girl! Her father was often busy with his work, and her stepmother despised her, so she was often left alone to her own devices. This house is far from town, and rather than real friends, Sophilia had to make do with her father's toys, and her own imagination. We played with her when we could, but we were often busy with work, and tending to Master Prendergast's business and Ludmilla's needs. A few weeks ago, we realized that none of us had seen Sophilia in awhile.
Then one day, a few days thereafter, I... I found her. No one knew what happened exactly, but it looked like she'd somehow taken to exploring the inside of the house, and had taken a fall. I... I blame myself. I should've watched her a bit closer. <Sob> I'm sorry; it pains me to think that a life so dear and sweet could be so easily extinguished.
No one took Sophilia's death harder than Master Prendergast. He withdrew from Ludmilla, the household, from life. For weeks he was beside himself with grief, refusing to eat. He even shut down his Toy Machine and stopped all production on his toys. A few days ago, he locked himself up in his Toy Workshop at the top of this house, and the noises of his Toy Machine began again. He began making toys again. <shudders> But, these toys sound nothing like the toys he used to make before. Can't you hear them? I fear that his beloved daughter's death may have driven Master Prendergast past his senses. I am afraid for him, but I am also afraid to go up to the Workshop now because of the noises.
You look brave. If you could, please check on him for me, will you? Master Prendergast's Workshop is located near the top of the house. It's only accessible through one wing of the house, which is only reachable through the doors at the top of the Library. I'd be wary-it's a dangerous place, with open machinery. Please... see how he is. We are all quite worried about him.
I am not alone in that, my young friend. Ludmilla, is, shall we say, difficult. I have been a professional manservant for decades, but she tries even my patience. <trembles with rage>
The woman orders me around all day, and does nothing but eat, shop, and lay about. It's like being subject to the whim of a spoiled dog. However, even that is within my duties... but there are other reasons for my feelings.
When I said that Sophilia could brighten anyone's day, I meant anyone except for Ludmilla, that is. I believe she was jealous of Master Prendergast's affection for her. She usually ignored young mistress Sophilia but all of us could sense the resentment she bore her.
But enough, I shall remain the professional, and speak no more on this.
Please... I blame myself enough as it is already. But perhaps you are right... perhaps it is safer that the Chimney remains inaccessible.

Yes, you've brought them! I will place these in the pantry at once. Here is the Omni Key as promised, albeit I give it to you reluctantly. Please, do take care in there. I couldn't live with myself if we had another accident.
Thank you for all your help. And again, please watch out for yourself in every moment in that Chimney, ok?
You're back! And I--oh dear, you don't have 20 of each type of Gummy Slimes. That won't do at all. Remember, they come in 4 colors. Please bring me back those Gummy Slimes. If her spirit is around, I want to make sure it's happy.
Didn't you lose this key somewhere? Some random person gave me this key and told me he found it on the ground. Here you go again.
You really shouldn't lose this key. I gave you because I trusted you and I want to keep it that way. So be trustworthy!
